The beauty of ServiceNow® is that is continues to evolve and improve with 2 new releases each year. The Madrid release is here and while upgrades are not mandatory, there are exciting new capabilities in the Madrid release that can further improve the way organizations work. Let’s take a look at some of the enhancements and new features in the Madrid release.

Antivirus Scanning

Protect your instances and keep them safe with the security of file scanning. Administrators can configure scanning at various levels from the entire instance to specific tables. This feature provides visibility into threats and improves response times as infected files get automatically quarantined for review.

Mobile Studio & Mobile Apps

You can build and deploy native apps (Android and iOS) with components that do not require coding. Provide consumer-like experiences with apps that can easily integrate with camera and location services. Apps built on the Now platform will remain secure regardless of a user’s location. Some of the highlights of this feature include:

  • Improved security.
  • Work anytime, anywhere, both online and offline.
  • Rapid development of apps.
  • Out-of-the-box (OOB) apps for FSM & ITSM.
Better Usability

ServiceNow® is all about better user experiences and to that end, there are new usability enhancements in Madrid.  Some of the new usability enhancements are regarding:

  • Guided Tour Designer
  • Instance Security Center
  • Service Portal

Creating callouts in the Guided Tour Designer has been streamlined with a single button that reduces the chance for an error when creating a flow. To avoid targeting all employees by accident, the tour creator is explicitly prompted for a role assignment.

The Instance Security Dashboard has been rebuilt and redesigned as the Instance Security Center using the Service Portal for a more intuitive user experience. The homepage provides a concise glimpse of current security levels so administrators can identify and respond to any security issues.

Administrators of the Service Portal can incorporate multiple catalogs and knowledge bases and rely on specific user permissions to filter visibility on catalog items and articles that users see.

This is just a glimpse of some of the new features and enhancements in Madrid. For more details, you can access upgrade documentation.
